Dear Families
This is the second weekly letter this half term and as always I hope you and your families are keeping well.
Please see the latest information and news below, including at the bottom of this letter, some examples of all of the great work from our children which can always be found on our twitter site. The letter also contains information about a Year 5 Hockey experience, primary school places, as well as some key messages.
Year 5 Hockey with Spencer Lynx Hockey Club
Adam, our PE Lead, organised professional hockey coaches from Spencer Lynx Hockey Club to come into work with our Year 5 children. As always the children took to the session with their usual enthusiasm and had a wonderful time. Adam informed me that all of the coaches that came in today gave so much positive feedback about the kids, their attitude and their behaviour, with one of the coaches saying, ‘The children were wonderful, and took to the game really well.’
Spencer Lynx provides a free Sunday hockey club for local school children, drawn from 15 schools across Wandsworth and Lambeth. They offer the chance to learn new skills, sporting and social, and to make new friendships across our community. Already some of our Year 5 children went along on Sunday and Spencer Lynx hope to receive more applications from our children. If any Year 5 parent would like more information about this, please contact the school for more details.
Spencer Lynx will be coming back into Lark Hall during the summer term to work with Year 4 children in order to recruit more Lark Hall children to start their programme in September. Further details to follow.
I want to say a big thank you to Adam and the Year 5 team for organising this amazing experience for our children.
Parent Governor
I recently advised all families of a Parent Governor vacancy on the Governing Body, with a deadline for interested parents being Friday 30th April 2021. I am very happy to advise families that we had many parents showing an interest in this position. I will write to all families again next week informing them of the outcome to this process.
Primary school places for September 2021
It’s that time of the year again and families of children have received information about primary school places for September. Over recent years, due to issues such as a falling birth rate, housing issues and the possible impact of Brexit, the number of applications for Lambeth schools has declined. I am pleased to report that all first choice applications for Lark Hall were successful. Although we still have spaces for Reception in September 2021, these places are being taken up very quickly.
Labelling School Uniform
It is the time of year when the weather changes, almost daily. Children regularly take their jumpers and coats off at playtimes. Please, please ensure that your child’s school uniform, PE kit and coats are clearly labelled with their name. This will help us to return any uniform that the children have taken off while running around enjoying their playtime. Unfortunately, if it isn’t labelled, there is a good chance it can’t be returned. Further, two reminders: only Lark Hall caps should be worn for school and children should not be wearing hoodies.
Bicycles and scooters
We want to encourage as many children as possible to scooter or cycle to school. As the site is very busy in the mornings and afternoons, please can we remind you that children should dismount their bicycles/scooters before coming on site. Also, please try to label or put a distinguishing mark on your child’s bicycle/scooter to ensure it is not mistakenly taken by another child.
That’s it from me. As always, if there is anything else myself or a member of the team can do to help and support you during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways.
Best wishes
Gary
Examples of Learning on Twitter – a reminder that the latest children’s work can always be found on Twitter
Year 3 being extremely creative during our fun session at the London CLC. We have been inspired by Roald Dahl and are using Puppet Pals to produce our own animations.

Yesterday, children in Year 6 – Tower Class were improvising, then composing an ostinato using tuned instruments. We then used our learned notation!

Year 1 did lots of show and tell for our new topic on the History of toys. Great for practising our public speaking skills and questioning words such as who, what, when, where and why.

Millennium are enjoying a well-deserved golden time after an amazing week of learning!
