Dear Families
This is the first weekly letter this half term and as always I hope you and your families are keeping well. Hopefully, by the end of this term the school can get back to our normal way of life. Let’s hope the vaccine roll-out continues apace and that we are all careful with the gradual relaxation of government guidelines so we never have to go through a lockdown again.
Now we look forward to the summer term. We intend to organise some local trips and as the term progresses we hope to hold normal annual events such as sports days (albeit without parents) and, for example, induction meetings for new reception children as well as host lots of leavers event for pupils in Year 6.
In the meantime, please see the latest news below.
Children in Year Group Bubbles
As you know, since the Easter break the ‘bubbles’ have been operating as whole year groups, which has made many of our systems in school, such as lunch and playtimes, much more flexible and easier to manage. The year groups have continued to have staggered break and lunch times and they have not been mixing with children outside of their year groups. The children have loved it this week, learning and playing with all of their year group instead of just their class.
As further easing of lockdown measures allows us to, we hope to get back to normal school life before the end of the summer term; such as restarting some local trips and visits. I know Adam is busy organising sporting competitions in the local area; more news to follow.
Parent Governor
I have recently written to all families informing you all of a Parent Governor vacancy on the Governing Body. The school’s governing body is responsible for providing confident and strategic leadership, and creating robust accountability, oversight and assurance for the school’s educational and financial performance. The body is passionate about education and committed to continuous school improvement to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.
As a parent governor, you’ll work with the governing body to ensure it effectively carries out the duties referred to above. You’ll also play a vital role in ensuring that the body is connected with, and is aware of the views of, parents and the local community. The role is not the same as a member of the Lark Hall Parent Committee. The deadline for interested parents is Friday 30th April 2021.
Ramadan
As the holy month of Ramadan started on Monday 12th April and will end approximately on Wednesday 12th May, I recently wrote to all families outlining the arrangements that Lark Hall Primary School has made to support your child’s learning at this time. The school will support those in Years 4, 5 and 6 who choose to take part with their parents’ permission.
If any parent would like their child to fast at school, you must inform below to the main front office ASAP. Please note that unless we receive your signed permission for your child to fast at school, we will assume that they are not taking part.
Little Larks Nursery (2 Year Old)
Are you or anyone you know entitled to 15 hours of FREE funding for your 2 year-old? If so, we are currently taking applications for our Little Larks Nursery. If you require more information or support to find out if you are eligible for the funding, please contact the office on 020 7622 3820.
Labelling School Uniform
Please, please ensure that your child’s school uniform, PE kit and coats are clearly labelled with their name. This will help us to return any uniform that the children have taken off while running around enjoying their playtime. Unfortunately, if it isn’t labelled, it is very difficult to return it.
