LINA SANTOS COMMEMORATION/SUMMER FAIR
I want to congratulate all of the parents, children and staff for making such a huge success of the Summer Fair on Friday 24th June.
As you know, we also combined this event with a memorial for Lina Santos. All profits from the Summer Fair went to Cancer Research, which was a charity close to Lina’s heart.
A big thank you for all of the donations that went toward the Teddy Tombola and Bottle Tombola.
CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY
I want to remind all of our families that Celebration Assembly plays such an important part of the school week. It is the culmination of all of the hard our children do each week. I know all of our children are keen to be awarded this accolade. Each Celebration Assembly takes place Each Friday at 9:00am. If your child is awarded this certificate, then it would be great if parents were able to make it.
YEAR 6 SLEEPOVER
On Thursday 30th June, our Year 6 children enjoyed a Sleepover at the school. It was such an amazing experience for the children to remain at school after the other children left for home and experience the school in the evening. The staff tell me all of the children, after playing lots of games in the evening, managed to get a kind of good night’s sleep. It is one of the privileges of being in Year 6 and one we are keen to continue for many years.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Parents are aware that Larkhall School Council regularly meets to discuss what matters to our children. As always, school improvement is always top of their list. Recently, School Council have been focusing on playground equipment and are working tirelessly on initiatives aimed at raising funds to purchase more equipment. I am always impressed at the ideas they put forward in order to make their voice heard. In the autumn term we should see the fruits of their success by purchasing more playground equipment.
SCHOOL TWITTER FEED
I know I often mention this, but please do take the time to look at the Larkhall Twitter feed on the school website. It is full of the amazing learning our children are demonstrating each and every week. The staff at Larkhall are fantastic at bringing the curriculum alive and this is highlighted on Twitter. It is something I highlight in each Friday morning Celebration Assembly as it enables all of the children to see what other children in school are learning about.
That’s it from me. If there is anything else myself or a member of the team can do to help and support you during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways. I am also always on the Gaskell Street gates each morning from 8:40am.
Best wishes
Gary
