LINA SANTOS COMMEMORATION/SUMMER FAIR

Come join us for some summer fun on Friday 24th June at our Summer Fair.

We are also going to be combining this event with a memorial for Lina Santos who sadly passed away earlier this year.  All profits from the Summer Fair will go to Cancer Research which was a charity close to her heart.

The fair will have soak the teacher, bouncy castle, face painting and lots more fun things to take part in.  We are also having a BBQ serving burgers, chicken, rice and salad.

We need donations of the following please:

  • Teddies for our teddy tombola
  • Bottle for our bottle tombola – this could be perfume, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), sauces, or bathing and beauty products

Please bring in any donations to the school office.

CLASS NEWSLETTERS

All families should have received their child’s Class Newsletter for summer term 2. These Newsletters are sent out at the start of each half term and are such an important part of home-school communication. They outline the learning content your child will be covering this term. Of course, after reading this Newsletter, you would like to know more about to support your child at home, then please speak to your child’s class teacher.

MOVIE AFTERNOON

The Movie Afternoon on Thursday 16th June was a sell-out. The families and staff had a great time watching Sing 2. As you may be aware, the proceeds from all school events such as this are ploughed back into the school fund for the benefit of our children and families. The proceeds from this Movie Afternoon are being used to provide fun activities at our Summer Fair on Friday 24th June.

GREEN TEAM

The Green Team are actively working on improving the school grounds. Working with Ayesha and Connor, they are presently improving the school garden. If any parents would like to get involved in school improvement areas, such as the garden or other parts of the school grounds, then please do come forward and speak to a member of the office staff in the first instance.

JUBILEE PARTY

Jubilee Day was a lovely afternoon. The weather held up and the children really enjoyed themselves sharing cakes and snacks with their class friends. It was a great time for the school to come together and celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years as monarch; a feat which I’m sure our children will never experience in their lifetime. As a personal memory, I still recall clearly the events and street parties in 1977, during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee and I hope our children are able to look back and remember the Jubilee party.

PSCD

I do want to make you aware of the PSCD curriculum we teach our children here at Larkhall. It is such an important of our children’s development and ensures they are taught skills such as being social aware, having self-awareness and the importance character plays as they get older. Meaning Personal and Social Character Development, PSCD underpins so much of what we do and underpins our entire school curriculum. If any parent would like to know about this part of the school curriculum, then please speak to your child’s class teacher or a member of the senior leadership team.
