Dear Families

I hope you and your families are keeping well. Please take the time to look at the information within this Newsletter. The Newsletter is being sent via email and Dojo.

  1. Parents Evening
  2. School Council
  3. Year 6 SATs
  4. Year 2 SATs
  5. Twitter Feed on our website

It was great to see so many of our parents attend their appointments at Parents Evening. As we are all aware, the child’s development is a product of home education and school education. Parent Evening meetings allow teachers and parents to discuss children’s development to date and to be aware of the next steps in their learning and they are critical to ensure home and school are working together. These meetings are also so much better when they are in person and I know the feedback from staff and parents was very positive.

For those parents who were unable to make an appointment time, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher to make an alternative time.

The Larkhall School Council continue to meet and work on many projects. As always, the children are not short of ideas when it comes to improving the school. The members of the School Council are voted on to it by their peers in class, so it is a very prestigious and at the same time responsible role within the school. School Council have been instrumental in organising the Charity and Fundraising days, the Movie Afternoon and Cake Sale. Of the many things they are working on now is taking an active part in the preparation for Lina Santos’s memorial and Summer Fair, both held on Friday 24th June.

One day, I’m sure, through their active involvement, we will finally install the heated swimming pool somewhere in the school grounds.

I mentioned in my previous Newsletter that many of our children are taking part in national assessments. During this week Year 6 have been taking part in their Key Stage 2 SATs. The children sat 3 different subject tests. These were:

  • English Reading
  • English Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar
  • Maths

Next week, the Year 2 children begin their Key Stage 1 SATs.The children will be sitting 3 different subject tests. These were:

  • English Reading
  • English Writing
  • Maths

Both the lead up to these tests and the week taking part are incredibly challenging for both children and staff. As always, we rise to these challenges at Larkhall and I’m sure the Year 6 children have performed to the maximum of their ability and I’m sure the Year 2 children will do the same. As we constantly tell them, as long as they do their best in all situations, then that is all we can ask of them. A huge well done to all children and staff.

I do want to remind all of our families that for an up to date perspective on what is happening within the school, then please take a look at our twitter feed on our website – It contains so much information about the what the children are learning about when they are in school. The staff and children take pride in the children’s learning and this twitter feed allows all families to see this work. It tends to be updated most days so please log in to on a regular basis to receive these updates.

That’s it from me. If there is anything else myself or a member of the team can do to help and support you during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways. I am also always on the Gaskell Street gates each morning from 8:40am.

Best wishes
