Dear Parents,
Welcome back everyone! It was lovely to see so many happy children (and parents!) coming into school this week. It has been such a wonderful week. Having all of the children back in school has filled all of our hearts with joy.
Thank you to all of you for observing social distancing and wearing of face masks at the start of the day, as well as using the one-way system effectively at the end of the day. When you have dropped your child in the morning and picked your child up at the end of the day, please remember to leave the site quickly.
This is the third weekly letter this half term and as always, I hope you and your families are as well as can be expected in the present circumstances.
In this letter, and as part of getting back to normal, I want to focus on some of the more normal parts of school life as well as mentioning.
Parent Meetings
We will be conducting online or telephone Parent meetings on Monday 19th April and Wednesday 21st April. They will very much be focused on how the children have coped with the return to school as well as next steps in their learning.
Although online and telephone Parent Meetings are perhaps not the same as face to face meetings, they do make it easier if both parents wish to attend and child-care issues aren’t as difficult to manage.
That’s it from me. In the meantime, if there is anything else myself or a member of the team can do to help and support you during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways.
World Book Day
A massive thank you to all who got involved in World Book Day. I know the children really enjoyed The Last Wolf teacher’s video and the activities online. Mini Grey, the author of The Last Wolf, was such a big fan of our teacher’s video and shared it on her own Twitter page!
During the week of World Book Day, we will be held a ‘Caught Reading’ competition for children to submit a photograph of themselves enjoying a book in an interesting place. A big well done to the winners below:
- Nursery – Lexi
- Reception – Lucas
- Year 1 – Absalat
- Year 2 – Yamin
- Year 3 – Yvette
- Year 4 – Sienna
- Year 5 – Nicole
- Year 6 – Maia
Red Nose Day
On Friday 19th March it is Red Nose Day. We will be raising money for Comic Relief. Everyone is invited to dress in red. Doesn’t matter what you wear as long as it is red! (Please make sure children are wearing sensible clothes and shoes that are suitable for school). Anyone dressed in red will be asked to bring a £1 donation, or whatever you can spare.
Throughout the day children will be taking part in some fun activities for Comic Relief. Check out our twitter feed throughout the day to see what we get up to! @larkhallprimary
Year 6 Secondary Transfer
It’s that time of the year again and families of children in Year 6 have received information about secondary school places for September. This year the total number of Lambeth applicants who applied for a secondary school place was 2548. I am pleased to say all of our children received an offer based on one of their preferences.
That’s it from me. In next week’s letter I will inform parents of the assessments for the remainder of this academic year.
In the meantime, if there is anything else myself or a member of the team can do to help and support you during this time, please do not hesitate to get in touch in the usual ways.
Best wishes
Gary
